Melissa:
Your great-grandmother, Caroline Pace was living with her parents on the 1910
census of Johnston Co, NC, Selma Township.
House #666, Mack D. Pace age 53 b. NC, parents b. NC, wife Harriet A. 51, b.
NC, parents b. NC, children: William M. 23, Lucy J. 18, Caroline 17, Myrtie
15, Nellie 12, Lester 11, Elijah 9, another son (name looks like Funerel) age
30 and his children: Virgen (son) 8, Lola 6, Eva 5, Norma 2. They were
married 37 years in 1910 and had 9 living children.
Living two houses away (#668) is a Merrit Pace age 54 b. NC with wife Eliza
44 and daughter Ame L. 16. They were married 25 years and had 2 kids livin.
He was probably a brother of Mack.
On the 1880 census of Selma Twp, Merit (25)is found living with Zilpha Pace
age 47 b. NC. This is probably his mother Also on the 1880 census, but in
Beulah Twp of Johnston Co is your Mack Pace, listed as McDanel, age 22 with wife
Harriet A. 21 and their first son, Lenord age 6 mo.
Then on the 1870 census of Johnston Co, Selma Twp, McDaniel, age 15 is found
with John Pace age 72 b. NC. Also is Frances E. Pace 7, probably a sister of
Mack, and a Crucy Langley age 74, relation unknown. This John Pace is likely
the father or grandfather of McDaniel Pace. I was not able to identify this
John Pace but he should be found on earlier census records.
Gordon W. Pace
