Roy,

You mentioned your interesting BLAIR connection

I've came across many BLAIR entrys in a UK research effort recently
prior to your mention; retracing my 'steps' trying to retrieve them
again.
They may be of use to you. I think it was to do with Gloucestershire.

the name COATES:

The COATES name is a very popular name at SUNDERLAND, County Durham,
England
in the north east where the HUTCHINSON name, also very popular at
Sunderland.

Both names are connected with PACE
COATES - Durham & Lancashire.

In Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire
the PACE name was also rather prominent, showing up in many parishes of
these counties, since the 1500s, which I've collected.

A connection between Durham & Gloucestershire Paces, exists.
I think this is where I came across BLAIR.
