Subject: [PACE-L] Michael Pace (husband of Anna Eveland...son of William?)
Date: Fri, 16 May 2003 00:18:46 -0700 (PDT)

I just rejoined the list and wanted to throw in my
theory on a post from Gordon from a few months ago
(below). I've recently learned a fair amount about
the Michael Pace that left NJ for Ontario. He is the
one that married Anna Eveland in NJ. He was born
approx. 1770 in NJ, and according to a fair amount of
info, he was the apparently the son of a William Pace
that was a Loyalist in NJ. William was imprisoned in
1778 for "provisioning the enemy" and his property in
NJ was seized at the end of the war. It is my belief
that this William may infact be the "Wilhelm" that
Gordon mentions below. William is mentioned as being
from Morris County, which ties in with the Wilhelm
that Gordon mentions. Just a theory...I don't
know...anybody else have anything that might further
suggest this is the case, or disprove it?

Rachel:
I think you may be jumping to conclusions a little too
early. I was
wondering where your got the birth year of 1774 for
Michael Pace and his wife
Annie Eveland.
As to the Jacob I mentioned, he is not the son of
Michael and Annie - he was
the son of the Michael Pace from Baumholder Prussia
who was born in 1729.
I see that you are trying to tie Frederick Eveland
Pace to Michael Pace from
Prussia. But Michael emigrated with three brothers,
Daniel, James Abraham
and Wilhelm, and I think it is more likely that you
descend from one of them.

In particular, Daniel Pace b. 7/12/1734 m. Marie
Barbara in NJ was on the tax
rolls of Tawkerburg Twp., Hunterdon Co, NJ in 1780.
This is the same place
where your Frederick Eveland Pace was born abt. 1807!
The other brothers
were some distance to the northeast in German Valley,
Morris Co, NJ. The
only known child of this Daniel Pace is John Frederick
Pace b. 7/2/1770.
Perhaps your Michael (b. 1774) was a brother of John
Frederick.
>From what I have seen posted so far I can't tell if
Frederick's middle name
was actually Eveland. If it wasn't then he probably
wasn't a son of Michael
and Annie.
This would open the possibility that he was a son of
John Frederick Pace.
It is not known what became of Daniel Pace.
Gordon W. Pace
